Yesterday Was PTSD Awareness Day. Let’s Keep Talking.

Yesterday was PTSD Awareness Day, but this isn’t a one-day conversation.

At Code 4, we know that PTSD isn’t just something that impacts veterans or first responders. It touches people from all walks of life, from those who have experienced a single traumatic event to those who have lived through years of repeated trauma. It shows up in sleepless nights, quick tempers, zoning out when you should be present, and in the moments when you feel like you’re holding it together with duct tape and coffee.

We also know this: you don’t have to fight it alone.

What Is PTSD, Really?

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) can develop after exposure to a traumatic event. It can look like:

  • Intrusive memories or flashbacks

  • Avoiding reminders of the trauma

  • Changes in mood or thinking

  • Feeling on edge or easily startled

It’s real, it’s valid, and it’s worth getting help for.

Resources You Can Use Right Now:

Why We Made This Shirt

Our “Stay. The world needs you.” shirt isn’t just a design. It’s a message we want people to see and remember, especially on the hard days.

It’s for those who are fighting quiet battles and need a reminder to keep going. And it’s for those who want to show up for the people around them who might need to hear it.

The Bottom Line

If PTSD is part of your story, you are not alone. Healing is possible, help is available, and your story isn’t over.

Yesterday was PTSD Awareness Day, but every day is a good day to check in with yourself or someone you care about.

Stay. The world needs you.
